Touch down in glamorous Miami for 10 to 14 days of fun in the sun. Miami has miles of sandy beaches backed by glitzy Art Deco hotels. It’s a wonderful place to cruise or stroll around whilst you people watch and take in the fabulous Art Deco buildings. Forget Miami Vice, this area is classy, and the hotels are amongst America’s best.
After yesterday’s transatlantic travel, we suggest you spend the day relaxing in the luxury of your Miami Beach hotel or on the lovely white sands that line the city. This is a super laid-back road trip, so there is no need to explore just yet.
Miami is packed with outstanding shopping options, from gigantic malls with major brands to the trendy boutiques found on Collins Ave. Whatever your tastes or budget – Miami has your retail needs covered. During the evening, we recommend you head to Ocean Avenue for a delicious meal under the neon lights.
Miami is home to hundreds of examples of Art Deco architecture as this remarkable city by the sea first became popular back in the 1920’s. Over the years, some of these fine buildings fell into disrepair, but today, the tourist dollar has come to the rescue, and the neglected buildings are now back to their former glory. This is Art Deco heaven for any architecture fan.
Now that you’ve fully settled into your Miami Beach holiday, why not spend the day relaxing on the legendary sands that run the entire length of Miami Beach. While enjoying the beach, check out the iconic lifeguard huts that watch over the Atlantic coastline and its visitors. Want more time to relax in Miami? Just let us know when you request your quote.
Drive southwest from Miami Beach and pick up Highway 9336, which will take you to the small coastal town of Flamingo on the southern edge of Everglades National Park. Along the way, be sure to stop off at the enjoyable “Robert Is Here” fruit stand for refreshments and more. After lunch, you’ll exit the Everglades and pick up the Overseas Highway to find the first of two hotels on The Florida Keys.
Anyone interested in diving or snorkelling will find America’s best diving spots between Key Largo and Islamorada. Should diving not be your agenda, then this area is also home to animal rescue centres for you to visit. Lastly, you could choose to simply do what most people do and enjoy your hotel’s facilities and restaurants while you admire the beautiful surroundings.
Leave Islamorada and drive a further 80 miles along “The Overseas Highway” all the way to Key West. Along the way, you’ll visit a string of small islands linked by a road that’s often set on stilts. Once a refuge for presidents and writers, the keys now serve tourists and oddly free-roaming chickens. Once at Key West, check out Sloppy Joe’s, Duval Street, and soak up the laid-back atmosphere.
Why not take a stroll around Key West today. Enjoy a nice lunch or dinner at one of the many bars or restaurants on offer.
Spend the final day of your holiday relaxing. After all, you’re at the southernmost point of America and close to the Caribbean.
