We’ll suggest properties to match your preferred budget, be it low-cost, mid-range or high-end luxury that you’re looking for. We can also mix it up so you’ll experience a range of standards and experiences along your road trip.
All of our American road trips can be tailored to meet your requirements. Do you have more or less than 14 days for your road trip? No problem, we can bolt on extra nights to allow more time to explore or shorten the number of destinations as required.
Touch down in Orlando; you’ll then collect your car and head over to your luxury Orlando hotel. Settle in and relax; you’ve got two weeks to discover all the fabulous places Florida offers.
Walt Disney World alone is the size of Greater Manchester and boasts massive 4 theme parks and 2 water parks. The parks are continually growing and evolving, and thus, Orlando has become a mecca for theme park enthusiasts. Check out the “big two” of Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando, a whole world of fun. The glorious year-round Florida climate helps make this area a golfer’s paradise also.
Another day to explore the theme parks, water parks, golf courses or swimming pools of sunny Orlando.
Want to see some nature whilst in Orlando? Take an airboat tour in Kissimmee to get up close with the wildlife, birds, alligators and incredible flora and fauna that call this part of Florida home. Orlando really does have something for everyone!
Today, you’ll hit the road and cruise east to the Atlantic Coast before turning south for Miami – South Beach is calling! You can stop off and visit Cape Canaveral and posh Palm Beach on your way to Miami. South Beach is the perfect base for your three-night stay. It is a great place to cruise around, walk the boardwalk or enjoy a meal while you people watch. Forget Miami Vice, this is a classy area, and the hotels are amongst America’s finest.
We recommend exploring some of Miami’s characterful neighbourhoods to really get a feel for the city. Little Havana is particularly distinctive and is home to the largest Cuban community outside of Cuba itself. We also recommend checking out the trendy Wynwood Walls Art District, which has colourful murals throughout the neighbourhood. Alternatively, you may prefer to take a refreshing dip in the 1920s built Venetian Pool in Coral Gables.
The chic hotels can be hard to leave at times; hotels like The National and 1 Hotel offer incredible swimming pools and cabanas to enjoy under the Florida sun. Nevertheless, the fabulous beach, shops and restaurants will tempt you away from your hotel sun lounger.
This 167-mile drive from Miami to Key West takes you along a string of small islands linked by a road set on stilts. Nicknamed “The Overseas Highway” because miles upon miles of this drive are spent on bridges that hover over the turquoise seas below. Along the way, scuba divers and snorkelers will have many pitstop options, including the popular ‘Christ of the Deep’ dive near Key Largo.
Once a refuge for presidents and writers, The Keys now serves tourists and the free-roaming chickens that reside here. Once at Key West, check out Sloppy Joe’s, Duval Street, and soak up the laid-back atmosphere and gorgeous sunsets. Relax, you’re at the southernmost point of America and close to the Caribbean. So, soak up the vibes and relax in the chilled-out atmosphere.
As you drive over to the Gulf Coast, you’ll pass through the extraordinary Everglades National Park, which starts just 30 miles west of the glitz and glamour of Miami. The Everglades has over 1.5 million acres of subtropical wetlands filled with crocodiles, alligators, manatees and more. This vast natural wonder can be explored on a guided tour by canoe or thrilling airboat or simply by driving through the National Park using the Tamiami Trail.
Perched on the Gulf of Mexico in southwest Florida, Naples is stylish and upmarket: high-end shopping, refined culture and sophisticated dining. When it comes time for lunch or dinner, enjoy your meal with a water view, as the Gulf Coast has the best sunsets. Enjoy the incredible beach and long pier, and make sure you visit 5th Avenue for some retail therapy in pastel-coloured stores and galleries.
It’s a short drive today, but you’ll head to an entirely different environment. Beautiful Sanibel and Captiva Islands are famous for their pretty seashells, sandy beaches and stunning sunsets. Don’t be tempted into shell collecting without understanding the strict collecting rules that apply on the island. This is a place of spectacular natural beauty. Dolphin-watching cruises are also popular from here.
Sanibel Island is small, visitors can cycle from end to end in less than an hour. This is a very special place to visit, and it makes for the perfect relaxing end to a road trip discovering many of Florida’s highlights. We can also explore further up the Gulf Coast should this appeal, another option is Siesta Key in Sarasota. This beach regularly earns awards such as “the best beach in America”.
