What to do in Charleston?

Charleston is a super walkable city, oozing with southern charm, you’ll find that you may not need your car whilst you explore. Picture perfect homes, colourful streets and full of history, there’s loads to do on your visit. For an iconic into-worthy picture, visit Rainbow Row. A stretch of 14 colourful houses each a pastel shade. Visit Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens, for a real feel for the South. You may recognise this as the picturesque home from Forrest Gump and The Notebook! Here you can learn about southern history and slavery as you tour the grounds.  Take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the city for a different way to appreciate the sights, or take a famous Ghost Tour to get chills as you hear true tales of Charleston’s darker side.

Locals would certainly say that Charleston is one of America’s greatest foodie cities! Known for its Lowcountry cuisine including Fried Chicken, biscuits and barbecue, there is something for everyone amongst the specialities. Lewis Barbecue, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit and Poogan’s Porch are some of ARTCo’s favourites.

When is the best time to visit Charleston?

Spring and Fall can be the best times to visit, though there is no bad time to travel to the stunning city.
