Most recent road trip? I was lucky enough to do a road trip up the East coast of the US, visiting Washington DC, Annapolis (a real hidden gem!) and Philadelphia, before finishing in the incomparable Big Apple. I’m a bit of a history buff, so getting to see the places where the Founding Fathers built a country from the battlefield up was fascinating!
Favourite hotel? It’s hard to beat the stunning Evergreen Lodge in Yosemite National Park – your very own log cabin in the woods, making you feel like you’re truly in the wilderness, but with all the amenities you could need. Having said that, for those who love people-watching, the Marriott Marquis in NYC with its birds-eye view of Times Square is pretty fantastic!
Most memorable drive? Highway 1 down The Big Sur is a mind-blowing experience, but my personal favourite is Scenic Highway 395, with Mount Whitney and the peaks of the Sierra Nevada on one side, and Death Valley stretching into the distance on the other. Then to finish off the drive, the incredible Tioga Pass into Yosemite will take your breath away.
Which road trip is next up? I’ve got a trip to Texas coming up, for a taste of cowboy life, yee-ha! After that, my husband and I are planning to drive Route 66 next year for our wedding anniversary!
We booked Route 66! Katie helped us plan our perfect road trip. We were able to take the original itinerary and adjust it so we could add Dallas onto the route for two nights. Katie was very knowledgeable and always happy to help with any queries we had. All the accommodation was lovely and in great locations. The whole trip was planned perfectly we wouldn’t have wanted to change anything. I cannot recommend this company enough. I would definitely book through this company again for another trip!
