Visit Monument Valley on the Arizona/Utah border, part of the Navajo Nation, so it’s another great destination where you’re able to hop over state lines! The majority of the scenic locations here are found within the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park.
How much does it cost to enter Monument Valley?
Admission to the park is $5 per person and is free for children under the age of 9. National Park passes can’t be used here as it isn’t a federal park.
What to do in Monument Valley?
There are many different routes to hike in monument Valley, the beautiful rock formations will take your breath away as you scour the landscapes. The best viewpoints of the park can be found along the assigned routes where you can drive to each point. There are so many vista points you’ll need to stop at, so allow an afternoon for this visit. We would definitely recommend a guided tour to explore Monument Valley as your guide will take you to places you cannot access without them. For a true western experience, horse riding can be a rather interesting way to see Monument Valley!
What to expect from the weather in Monument Valley?
The desert landscape is often hot and sunny, but temperatures can take a drastic dip, so be sure to take layers. The red rock buttes do sometimes see a sprinkling of snow, which somehow makes the landscape even more epic!

We love The View Hotel, which offers a superb view, overlooking the whole valley. Where else can you wake up to a view like that?!
Don’t leave Monument Valley without… Catching a sunset! The naturally dark skies and no light pollution, Monument Valley is covered with a blanket of bright stars most nights. You can sit out and star gaze way into the night!
