Favourite place visited on a road trip has to be Diablo Lake in the North Cascade Mountains. The views here are just breathtaking, as you drive the Cascade loop it gets better and better. You can drive right up to the overlook which is phenomenal, then as you continue driving the loop you can pull in at the Thunder Knob Trailhead and access the bright blue waterside. ‘The Tree of Life‘ near Kalaloch in Forks, WA, is pretty spectacular to witness.
Tell us about your last road trip adventure… Driving through the amazing Pacific North West. Starting in Seattle, WA, heading through Olympic National Park, down the Oregon Coastline, on to Portland, Columbia River Gorge and Mount Rainier before driving the North Cascades Loop. Scenery upon scenery – this trip was mind blowing!
Most memorable drive? A California road trip Driving along Highway 1, The Big Sur in a Mustang – you just can’t beat it! Start in Northern California, one of my favourite spots, it’s so calm and cool, then as you drive South along the coast you’re hit with views like no-where else!
Favourite excursion? The Napa Valley Wine Train exudes elegance, while the ‘Sip & Cycle’ wine tour is an absolute blast. Whale watching in Monterey or soaring over the electrifying Las Vegas strip on a helicopter tour – Amazing!
From the initial phone call with Shelby last year to the holiday itself the whole experience was great. We dealt with Shelby the whole way through the process and she was always so quick to respond to queries. We were able to adapt the trip slightly adding an extra stop and changing a hotel. A hotel adjustment was made for us when an area was affected by a road closure. Advice was given readily regarding things to consider along the way and the pack we received prior to going had everything we needed. We had the most amazing time! Lake Tahoe and the journey from there to Yosemite being highlights. We went on the wine train in Napa to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary which was perfect in every way. Would definitely use The American Road Trip Company again, the biggest dilemma is where to go next!
